锥齿轮按齿形来分类,可分成直齿及弧齿两大类。弧齿锥齿轮又可分为一般弧齿(螺旋角为35°)及零度弧齿。按齿高来分类,又可分成收缩齿及等高齿两类。其中收缩齿又可分成正常收缩的及非正常收缩的(双锥型 Duplextaper type 或称双重收缩齿)。弧齿锥齿轮广泛用于轮履式工程机械的主传动及中央传动中,并占有很重要的位置。直齿锥齿轮由于存在有同时啮合齿数较少,不能分齿,不易控制接触区,传动有冲击等缺点而很少应用。零度弧齿锥齿轮(包括螺旋角小于10度的)和直齿锥齿轮比较,有较多的接触齿
