西奥多·德汉是比利时鲁汶大学英语文学与比较文学教授、欧洲科学院院士、SSCI期刊《欧洲评论》主编。他的专著有《美国文学史》(2014)、《路特雷奇简明世界文学史》《当代美国犯罪小说》等。2017年5月,德汉教授在南京大学和中国矿业大学讲学期间,接受了何成洲教授和李淑玲副教授关于世界文学与全球文学的访谈。德汉教授从世界文学的不同定义以及他个人编写世界文学选集的原则谈起,着重阐述了当今世界文学研究的潜力、危险和不同声音。他还基于自己在后现代主义、后殖民主义、比较文学及世界文学领域的丰富研究,提出了超越后殖民主义、用“全球文学”替代“世界文学”的设想,以回避学界对于世界文学的一些质疑。
Theodore Dehan is a professor of English literature and comparative literature at Leuven University in Belgium, a member of the European Academy of Sciences, and editor in chief of SSCI’s European Review. His monographs include “The History of American Literature” (2014), “Loutrech’s Brief History of World Literature” and “Contemporary American Criminal Novels.” In May 2017, Prof. Dehan received lectures from Professor He Chengzhou and Associate Professor Li Shuling on interviews with world literature and global literature while teaching in Nanjing University and China University of Mining and Technology. Prof. Dehan talked about the different definitions of world literature and his own principle of compiling the selection of world literature, highlighting the potential, dangers and different voices of today’s world literature research. Based on his own rich research in postmodernism, post-colonialism, comparative literature and world literature, he also proposed the idea of surpassing post-colonialism and replacing “world literature” with “global literature” so as to avoid academic circles Some questions about world literature.
