在一九五八年这个伟大的跃进年中,新闻报道也有一个跃进。其中值得提出的一点是:抓政治气候。我们不妨翻翻许多报纸(中央的和地方的),从版面上可以看到,在每个时期的各项重大运动中,读者可以及时读到大跃进中新事物和新问题的大量报道。当党和政府提出一个重要的政策方针或意图后,许多报纸在几天以内就能迅速反映这些政策方针和意图在实际中的执行情况,及时传播执行中的新经验、新创造,来推动大跃进中的各项工作。冬春水利建设高潮,春夏田间管理,夏秋粮食高产经验,秋冬全民钢铁大战,还有工具改革,爱国衞生,青壮年扫盲,教育与生产劳动结合等等运动,一个高潮接着一个高潮,全国人民终于赢得了苦战第一年的辉煌成就。应当说,在每一次成就中,都有新闻工作者的一份功劳。
