教育改革的核心在于提高教学质量,而教学质量能否提高依赖于师资队伍素质的高低。目前我国大学英语教师现状不容乐观,普遍存在着学历层次偏低,教学任务繁重;语言基本功不扎实,跨学科文化知识不足;科研意识淡薄,科研能力较弱;教学观念陈旧;缺乏运用信息技术的能力等的问题,直接影响到大学英语的教学质量和教学效果。特别是随着扩招的实施,高校中的班级规模不断扩大,形成了公共课特别是大学英语以大班教学为主的教学组织形式,在教学和管理方面难度更大,彻底改善大学英语教师素质现状任迫在眉睫,需要教育界的共同努力,更需要教师自身的进取。
