Jane Austen was one of the most popular realist novelists in the early nineteenth century, with “arrogance and prejudice” as his masterpiece. This article attempts to analyze the formation of the meaning of conversation in Pride and Prejudice from the perspective of the principle of co-operation and the principle of politeness to explore the formation of prejudice in the novel.
