几年来盲童学校、聋哑学校在各地党和教育行政部门的领导下,在广大教师积极努力下,学生人数有了增加,教学工作有了改进。但是我国的盲童学校和聋哑学校基础十分薄弱,新的教育制度尚未建立起来,一般学校的教学质量都很低,特别是职业劳动训练还没有引起普遍的重视,这给盲、聋哑学生毕业后参加劳动生产带来了更多的困难。目前学校数量还很少,而且设置不平衡,有些省、自治区还没有设立此类学校,远远不能满足盲童和聋哑儿童的入学要求。
