这篇文章的主人公是担任过监利县代县长、县长,现任荆州市副市长、监利县委书记的杨道洲。是县长还是代县长?县长办公会议提法准不准确?杨道洲依据地方组织法阐述了自己的观点。1995年7月,县委推荐杨道洲为监利县县长人选,但由于县人代会于2月下旬已经开过。有人建议,是否再开一次人代会进行选举。杨回答得很干脆:不必。他说,如果仅仅是为了我名正言顺地当县长,再开一次人代会,那就劳民伤财了。组织上安排我到监利,是来工作的,而不是图虚名的。如果能为监利人民做几件实事,监利人民还满意的话,我就安心了。现在让监利人民了解我、认识我,也便于人大代表正确地行使选举权。
