When I arrived in China, I felt that Los Angeles was also a community from a worldwide perspective. I also feel that China and the United States have many similarities in nursing. China also cares about community health care like the United States. There is a shortage of nurses in China, and the same is true in the United States. Many wards in the United States have to close because of the lack of nurses. The second similarity is that both countries are trying to improve the quality of nurses. The United States advocates that nurses receive a bachelor’s degree. Now that 20% of nurses in the United States have a bachelor’s degree, most nurses come from a two-year nursing school. The third point of commonality is that the care in both countries is focused on prevention, such as infectious diseases, environmental pollution, and respiratory diseases caused by smoking.
