Doris Lessing is a famous contemporary British woman writer who has been nominated many times for the Nobel Prize and received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2007. Lessing had quite a long history of writing. Literary circles also analyzed his works from different perspectives, but his return to the traditional female roles embodied in his works was rarely mentioned. This article tries to re-read the Lessing’s book Diary of Jane Somers through a variety of textual interpretations and looks forward to the new critical orientation that enables the contemporary to realize the importance of the family and the role of women in the family importance.
