Steinenberg in Basel, Switzerland, is one of the busiest sections of the city’s light-rail network, with light-rail trains running for about 1-2 minutes. For some time, the rails on the lines of Steinenberg and Theaterstrasse must all be replaced due to the rail’s wear and tear. In the meantime, the Council decided to lay a floating slab track system at the T-shaped intersections of the two streets to reduce noise and vibration, which has plagued the neighboring Statcasino Hall for years.
