图书馆编目工作质量的好坏,关系到读者能否顺利搜索到其所需要的图书,进而决定了图书馆服务的质量。因此,图书馆编目工作质量成为图书馆工作中的重点内容。图书馆编目工作的基本要求包括规范、准确和方便。图书馆编目工作质量管理的实施方便读者查询和阅读,有利于编目资源的共建共享。当前许多图书馆编目工作存在着标准化和规范化程度不高、缺乏有效的编目管理制度、编目工作人员素质有待提高等问题,这些问题的存在影响了编目工作的质量。因此,图书馆应当通过完善其编目细则、提高编目工作人员素质、建立质量评估体制来建立起良好的编目工作质量管理体系。
