Selenium-deficient heart disease has now been found among residents of a few selenium-deficient provinces outside the Baikal region. Analysis of selenium in biogeochemical chains shows that the content is quite low. For example, selenium levels in soils ranged from 20 to 30 μg / kg (control area 290 μg / kg) and selenium in water 0.8 to 1.0 μg / kg (control area 10 to 20 μg / kg) 5μg / kg (50 ~ 80μg /, kg in control area).
