Ovulation is a very complex trait, influenced by both genetic and environmental factors. Ovulation determines the number of lambs litter size, so pay attention to sheep ovulation changes, help to improve sheep reproductive performance. Follicle growth factor plays an important role in determining ovulation rate and litter size in sheep. Studies have shown that BMP15, GDF9 and BMPR1B three follicular growth factors on follicle growth and reproductive function have a significant impact. Single-gene mutations lead to ovulation rate changes in sheep. The article reviewed the effects of three mutations of BMP15, GDF9 and BMPR1B on the ovulation rate and the biological functions of the ovarian follicular development candidate genes.
