Energy Consumption of Foreign Urban Water Supply Systems In 1975, energy consumption and GDP of major developed countries were among the highest in the United States, followed by Japan and West Germany. According to the average population, the average annual energy consumption per capita in the United States accounts for the first place in the world, and the average GNP per capita is more than 7,000 US dollars. In the national economy, the urban water supply system is an important part. Especially in modern cities, in order to meet the needs of industrial production and improve people’s living standards, the water supply system is required to develop accordingly. According to a Japanese survey, in 1981, the national electricity consumption for urban water supply was 6 billion kWh, accounting for 1.1% of the country’s total electricity consumption of 522.7 billion kWh, an increase of 12% over 1976. In 1981, the urban water supply was 13.25 billion m 3 ,
