平时对于自己从不愿多说什么的叶建农博士,以他的踏实与勤奋,和对祖国的一片赤诚之心赢得了国内外有关专家和同事们的一致好评。1983年叶建农公派赴美路易威尔大学攻读博士学位,以全A的优秀学业成绩和出色的课题研究成果,于1988年11月获博士学位,并获全美荣誉毕业生称号。导师再三挽留他在美从事科学研究。他深知母校迫切期待他回来,于1988年12月回到了上海华东师大,由于他的积极努力以及在电分析化学的教学科研方面作出的显著成绩,他曾多次参加国际学术会议,1990年晋升副教授。
