近年来我国外语教学的目标已逐步转向跨文化交际能力的培养,要求学习者超越单纯的语言习得,摆脱具体文化的束缚,了解各种思维模式和生活方式,具备适应多种社会文化环境的自主学习能力和交际能力。作为跨文化外语教学实践的一种尝试,英语公众演说(EPS)课堂教学具备五大特点,包括以学习者为中心、培养自主学习能力、进行多渠道多层次的语言和文化教学、培养跨文化意识和敏感性、开发学习者多种智能等,为我国外语教学提供新的启发和借鉴。
