中国福利会国际和平妇幼保健院和上海第九制药厂、中国科学院有机化学研究所、细胞生物学研究所、上海铁路中心医院、上海化工学院、上海第一医学院等单位共同协作,从1975年起摸索催经止孕的药物。经过两年多的反复实践,终于找到了合适的药物——D-18甲基三烯炔诺酮和前列腺素合并应用。于1977年8月起用于132例停经妇女(停经天数36～60天,平均40天),其中催经6例全部有效;止孕126例,成功113例,成功率达90%以上,流产时间均在18小时以内。
