The Port of Xiamen is situated in southern FujianProvince along the coast where the Jiulongjiang River emptiesinto the sea.The shore length within the boundaries of theport is 154km,and the length of deepwater harbour alongwhich piers can be built is 16.44km.The joint inspection an-chorage is 14km~2 in area.The total water surface area of theport is 300km~2,and land area 7km~2.The port has 74 opera-tional berths,including 11 of 10,000dwt class or above.Thelongest berth is 350m.and the maximum size of vessel thatcan be accommodated is 50,000dwt class.The port owns 595units of terminal handling machinery and has a total storagearea of 429,000m~2.
