Excessive nitrate in groundwater has emerged as a serious environmental concern. The elevated nitrate concentration in drinking water causes a serious threat to public health on account of the possible transformation of nitrate to nitrite, which is one of the main predisposing factors of methemoglobinemia [1].Accordingly, decreasing nitrate concentration into a safe level is deeply urgent [2].Considering the weak binding affinity of nitrate on transition metals, harsh reaction conditions have been employed to accelerate the nitrate reduction reaction (NRR) [3].In this regard, the development of efficient NRR catalysts under mild conditions is highly desirable.
