人们通过隐喻认识世界,语言通过隐喻构建人的认知。隐喻性词指某一个词具有隐喻意义,即:用同一语言符号表现不同的概念意义,这类语言的出发点是语言最小的能自由运用的意义单位----词。词本身并不是隐喻,而是某种特殊的用法使之成为隐喻。诗歌中的隐喻着力于巧妙地运用丰富的隐喻性词语,在Ronald Stuart Thomas的诗作《Here》中,许多隐喻性词语的运用就充分诠释了这首诗的情感内涵。
People understand the world through metaphor, and language constructs human cognition through metaphor. Metaphorical words refer to the metaphorical meaning of a word. That is, different conceptual meanings are represented by the same language symbol. The starting point of such languages is the smallest unit of words that can be used freely. The word itself is not a metaphor, but rather a special usage that makes it metaphorical. The metaphor of poetry focuses on clever use of abundant metaphorical words. In the poem “Here” of Ronald Stuart Thomas, the application of many metaphorical words fully expounds the emotional connotation of the poem.
