Herbert Kroemer In 1952, Kremer received a master’s degree in theoretical physics from the University of Göttingen, Germany. After graduation, Körmer devoted himself to studying semiconductor equipment. In 1963 he proposed the concept of a semiconductor double heterostructure laser and was one of the pioneers in this field. In the 1980s, this idea and the corresponding technology were widely used. He studied a variety of practical semiconductor technology, covering high-performance equipment, materials research, solid state physics and many other emerging areas. Outstanding research has won him a number of awards at home and abroad. In 2000, Körmer and two other scientists jointly won the Nobel Prize in Physics for their contributions to modern information technology, especially the fast transistors, laser diodes and integrated circuits (chips) they invented .
