许多学者曾从语义学、语用学、修辞学等角度研究委婉语。本文则从认知语言学的角度对英语政治委婉语进行深入分析。Radden & Kovecses提出:转喻是源域为目标域提供心理通道的认知操作,这一操作建立在转喻生成关系之上。由此他们总结了转喻生成关系和其所在的理想认知模型。笔者运用其中的三种模型及其相应的转喻生成关系对英语政治委婉语进行分析,不仅发现了英语政治委婉语的构成本质,还揭示了其背后隐藏的政治意图和事实真相。
Many scholars have studied euphemism from the perspective of semantics, pragmatics and rhetoric. This essay deeply analyzes English political euphemism from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. Radden & Kovecses proposes that metonymy is a cognitive operation in which the source domain provides psychological channels for the target domain, and this operation is based on the metonymic relationship. As a result, they summed up the relationship between metonyms and their ideal cognitive model. The author analyzes the English political euphemism by using the three models and their corresponding metonymical relations, not only reveals the constitution essence of English political euphemism, but also reveals its hidden political intention and truth.
