This paper examines the sensitivity of the Nomex honeycomb to the external environment as an aircraft structural material. Its main content is the determination of the mechanical properties of Nomex honeycomb materials under high temperature and high humidity environment, including honeycomb parts in pure honeycomb and composite structure. Static compression and plate shear mechanical tests were conducted to evaluate the effects of temperature and humidity. In addition, the absorbed moisture was measured. The influence of the test conditions on the shear strength is slight, while the compressive strength is unaffected. The absorbed water accounts for 2% of the weight.
