In parallel with the PET test, Japan’s Civil Aviation is still conducting a trial called SATELLITE DATA LINK. Both GES and AES in this test were designed to be compatible with the ICAO AMSS SARPs standard and INMARSAT’s SMD for the purpose of verifying the AMSS bit-oriented system based on the OSI model. Although the protocol is similar to PET in terms of protocol, the space segments, aircraft, GES and terrestrial computer systems used are different. AES is installed on ENRI’s BEECHCRAFTB99.
