The leaves of tobacco in vitro were treated with 4 mmol·L -1 formaldehyde solution. The effects of spermine and spermidine on the absorption efficiency of formaldehyde, the physiological indexes of leaf peroxidation and the activities of POD, CAT, SOD, APX activity. The results showed that the exogenous application of polyamines significantly increased the efficiency of formaldehyde absorption by tobacco leaves. When 100 μmol·L -1 spermine or 200 μmol·L -1 spermidine was added to formaldehyde solution, formaldehyde Absorption efficiency increased by 18% to 20%. The addition of polyamines not only delayed the degradation of chlorophyll in tobacco leaves under formaldehyde stress, but also inhibited the accumulation of MDA and H_2O_2 in leaves. In addition, exogenous application of polyamines also significantly increased CAT, APX and POD activity in tobacco leaves under formaldehyde stress, but the SOD activity did not change significantly. This shows that polyamine enhanced formaldehyde absorption efficiency of tobacco leaves may be through polyamine antioxidant enzyme activity to achieve.
