At the invitation of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Prime Minister of India, arrived in Beijing Capital International Airport on the evening of 22 June 2003 to conduct an official 6-day official visit to China. This is the first visit to China by the Indian Prime Minister in 10 years. In 1962, due to the problems left over by history, Sino-Indian military conflicts took place in the border areas and the relations between the two countries fell into doldrums.
