结合图书馆工作实践,以图书馆学的基本矛盾为出发点,以系统性的一系列方法分析图书馆学学科。以个性到共性的科学抽象的方法,分层次地分析图书馆学的同类矛盾的特殊性和一般性及其相互转化关系;分析研究图书馆学的基本矛盾的哲学指导方法与具体思维方法;分析融入图书馆学的基本矛盾中的、时代要求的图书馆学学科研究的新内容和方法。认为它们的相互关系和逻辑联系构成一个完整的系统,即形成图书馆学的方法体系。
