本文试图通过漫谈的方式探讨“民主”(democracy)一词的含义,并定位其在音乐教室中可能的运用。以杜威为期26个月的访华为启发,以中国与美国哥伦比亚大学师范学院的深厚关系为基础,作者期望能再度激起对民主教育的热诚,并重新开启音乐教育中传统与创新之定位与目的的跨文化对话。有感于“民主”(Greek:δημοκρατiα/demokratia)一词词源学上的受限,作者期望参考中文与英文的解读,重新诠释此概念。作者的目标并非提供一个绝对的或正确的定义,而是希望借此寻找灵感,通过多种解读“民主”的方式来扩充对“民主”概念的理解,及其在正规音乐教育中的实际应用。
This article attempts to explore the meaning of the word “democracy” through discussion and to pinpoint its possible use in music classrooms. Inspired by Dewey’s 26-month visit to China and based on the deep relationship between China and the Columbia University Teachers College, the author hopes to rekindle enthusiasm for democratic education and re-establish the tradition and innovation in music education. Purpose of intercultural dialogue. Feeling constrained by the etymology of the term “Greek: δημοκρατiα / demokratia”, the author hopes to re-interpret this concept with reference to the interpretation of Chinese and English. Instead of providing an absolute or correct definition, the author’s goal is to look for inspiration and expand his understanding of the concept of “democracy” through a variety of interpretations of “democracy,” as well as its role in formal music education In the practical application.
