This novel has given Walker a great reputation for collecting the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and the National Book Critics Association Award. Not only “purple”, but also other works of Walker also reflect a theme, which is for blacks, especially black women’s own rights and continue to cry and struggle. This article analyzes the cultural identity of Alice Walker in three aspects: the awakening of the black female consciousness, the redefinition of the black male identity and the seeking of the black cultural tradition.
