Ten years ago began interferon clinical trials, the first trial for the treatment of viral diseases, later developed to treat malignant tumors. Improvements in the preparation and purification of interferons have led to a surge in the production of different types of interferon, making it possible to conduct phase I and II studies to determine the toxicity and clinical efficacy of high-dose interferon.
