宗白华(1897-1986),原名宗之櫆,字伯华,祖籍杭州,生于安庆。其父宗嘉禄曾中举,后成为水利学家;其母是“桐城派”散文家方苞的后代。早年就读于新式小学、中学,曾入青岛大学中学部学习德文,后在同济大学学医。1920年赴德留学,1925年回国后被东南大学(后改名中央大学)聘为哲学系教授,从此便在大学讲堂讲授哲学,并从1952年任教于北京大学哲学系直至逝世。宗白华先生青年时参与发起 Zong Baihua (1897-1986), formerly known as Zong Zhi, word Peter, ancestral home in Hangzhou, was born in Anqing.
