If maternal love is a deep, deep water, then the father’s love is a solid and steady mountain. We thank our mothers, of course, but we must not forget our father’s merit. In 1909, Mrs. John Bruce Dover, of Washington State, first proposed the establishment of a Father’s Day to honor his father’s nourishment and proposed to set the third Sunday of June each year as Father’s Day. On June 19, 1910, the first Father’s Day in the world was celebrated in Spokane, Washington. Anyone whose father’s deceased wears a white rose and his father’s person wears a red rose. Since then, on the third Sunday in June each year, people have been given gifts to their fathers to express their unparalleled love for their fathers.
