Information Storage · In August 1993, IBM announced that the use of giant magnetoresistance could significantly increase the capacity of hard disks. IBM made multi-layer discs that can hold several movies, 12 hours of music, or 1 million pages of information. The capacity of the 10-layer disc is increased by 10 times to 6.5 Gigabits, and it takes only 10 seconds to extract information. Japanese pioneer company developed a blue laser CD player that can be used at room temperature.
