根据台湾蔗区气候、土壤类型 ,台湾糖业研究所于 1971年将台湾蔗区分为九个区 ,并从此在甘蔗育种课题中开展区域选择计划 (RSP)。 1971~ 1990年 ,为了减小基因型与环境互作效应的影响 ,每个区都建有一个甘蔗选育站来选育最适合当地的稳产品种。过去 2 8年多的实践证明甘蔗区域选择计划对甘蔗育种是行之有效的 ,因为从 1986年起推广了应用 RSP选育的新台糖系列品种达 2 2个 ,这些品种对台湾糖业的发展发挥了重要的作用。然而 ,那些环境条件较差 (如 :盐碱地、红高地、沙质土以及湿地等 )地区的选育站的选种效率总体来说是非常低的 ,因此 ,从 1991~ 1996年 ,由于财政原因 ,关闭了四个效率低下的地区选育站。RSP的缺点是实施该计划要耗费大量的人力物力 ,由于台湾糖业持续衰退 ,要实施该计划愈来愈困难 ,于是 ,培育的实生苗数从原来每年的 60 0 ,0 0 0株下降到近年的 2 30 ,0 0 0株 ,区域试验也从 1971/ 1972年度的 60个减少到 1999/ 2 0 0 0年度的 11个。研究发现第一、第二株系阶段选择的株系数与后续阶段可能选育得到的品系数有显著的相关性 ,这表明 RSP早期选择对成功的选育种计划来说可能是至关重要的
According to Taiwan’s sugarcane climate and soil types, the Taiwan Sugar Research Institute divided Taiwan’s sugarcane into nine districts in 1971 and has since conducted a Regional Choice Program (RSP) on sugarcane breeding.
