In response to environmentalists’ censure of Marxism, Paul Burkett elaborates the relationship between capital and nature from the anti-ecological nature of capital accumulation. He holds that there is a fundamental gap between the infinite capital accumulation and the limited natural conditions Contradictions and capitalist production have created a global environmental crisis. Green capitalism is not feasible. Marxism is a combination of “red” and “green.” In order to establish a cooperative, democratic, non-exploitative and non-market social system, the relations of capitalist production must be changed.
