“英雌”形象是晚清“新小说”所提供的一类独特人物面相,并呈现出强烈的民族国家叙事话语特征。从晚清到民元,在对“英雌”形象的“知识考古”中,不仅可以找寻出从性别“缺席”的“英雌”到性征鲜明的“女人”形象的嬗变谱系,亦可以梳理出从晚清的“英雌”到民元前后《妇女时报》中“女侠”形象的嬗变图谱,这一形象的嬗变必然牵动着其所隶属的民族国家叙述话语的改变。
