子渠埂上,生长着一棵树,一棵泡桐。树干长到三米来高,发了杈,再不见长,一年一年,渐显龙钟。树干却不直,下身两米高的地方,歪扭向一边,败了材。树干上,还有两个大疤,外皮合不拢,绽出寸把深的肌理,虫蚁在皮层里繁殖。好的皮层上面,也是伤痕累累,有的地方,刻着莫名的图案,有的如楔形的字。擎开的树冠,先是三个分杈,既粗且壮。两枝沿着渠埂的走向铺开,一枝向上,略略地朝着东南的方向倾斜。其他,叠生着大小的分枝,密叶簇展开来,一派葱茏。有喜鹊、麻雀做窝,吱吱喳喳叫闹。
