智化寺:曾经被遗忘在历史中的北京古刹京音乐不是孤立存在的,要了解京音乐,首先就要了解它的原生环境——智化寺。智化寺建于公元1443年(明英宗时期),第二年英宗赐名“智化禅寺”,意思是“以佛的智慧渡化人”。可笑的是,智化寺其实是当时的司礼监总管王振的家庙。后王振擅将部分宫廷音乐移入寺院,并组建乐队,用于寺院佛事和一些民间活动,此即智化寺音乐的由来。清道光、咸丰年间,智化寺音乐从寺院逐渐传播到北京周边地区,从而成为了北方佛曲的代表,被时人冠以“京音乐”。至今已传承五百六十多年,被誉为中国古代音乐的“活化石”。
