1994年7月5日,人民大会堂。中华人民共和国第八届全国人民代表大会常务委员会第八次会议将要对提交的几份审议和修改的《中华人民共和国劳动法》(以下简称《劳动法》)修改稿进行表决。经过几天的审议,委员们认为,经过审议和修改后的法律文本比较成熟。随着表决器的按动,全国人大常委会以“121票赞成,1票反对,3票弃权,1人未按表决器”通过了《劳动法》。人们企盼多年的以保护劳动者合法权益为基本宗旨的《劳动法》终于在世界上劳动者最多的国家诞生了。
July 5, 1994, Great Hall of the People. The 8th meeting of the Standing Committee of the Eighth National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China will vote on several revised versions of Labor Law of the People’s Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as “Labor Law”) submitted for review and revision. After a few days’ deliberation, the committee members considered that the legal text after deliberation and revision is relatively mature. With the press of the voting device, the NPC Standing Committee passed the Labor Law with “121 votes in favor, 1 against and 3 abstaining from voting, and one failed the vote.” The “labor law” that people have been looking forward to for many years on the basic purpose of protecting the legitimate rights and interests of laborers has finally emerged in the world’s most laborer country.
