在英汉翻译实践中,初学者不时为这一问题所困扰:为什么译文总嫌蹩脚?换言之,为什么汉语(或英语)不够地道?这里的原因不消说是多方面的。但其中重要一条恐怕在于还没有完全掌握译入语的修辞规律。很显然,英语和汉语不但在词汇、句法乃至辞格的运用方面具有诸种差别,在修辞即遣词造句方面也有各自的规律和特点。探索、了解这些规律和特点,尤其是比较其间的主要差异,必然会有助于我们提高译文的质量。
In the practice of English-Chinese translation, beginners from time to time troubled by this issue: why the translation is too crappy? In other words, why Chinese (or English) is not authentic enough? The reasons here needless to say is multifaceted. However, an important one of them probably lies in the fact that the rhetoric of translation into Chinese has not yet been fully understood. Obviously, English and Chinese not only have various differences in the use of vocabulary, syntax and even rhetoric, but also have their own laws and characteristics in terms of rhetoric. To explore and understand these laws and characteristics, especially comparing the major differences between them, will surely help us to improve the quality of the translation.
