According to figures recently released by the Composites Subcommittee of the American Plastics Association, the composites industry in the United States continued to show an increasing trend in 1988 after it established a historical record in 1987. On the basis of the first two quarters of 1988, it is expected that the annual output of thermoset and thermoplastic resin reinforced composites and fillers will increase by 6.5%, exceeding the level of 1987. It is estimated that the total production in the first half of 1988 was 1.39 billion pounds, which is far greater than the predicted value of composite clubs and some experts.
