It has been previously pointed out that atomic absorption is only fully used in conjunction with efficient methods of selectively enriching gold and silver that eliminate the effects of many metal interferences. Triphenylphosphine, petroleum sulfides, diphenylthiourea and tributylphosphonate were used as extractants for gold and silver. However, these reagents can not be used to extract gold and silver simultaneously when analyzing geologic samples.
