所谓前卫艺术,是指1978年“文革”之后,以“星星美展”为开端,发生在中国大陆各大城市中的非主流艺术。应当说,在经历了“85思潮”风风雨雨的洗礼、“89中国现代大展”的轰轰烈烈之后,直到本世纪九十年代末的今天,中国前卫艺术经过了近二十余年的努力,不仅对包括从西方早期现代主义以来的“印象”、“象征”、“表现”、“形而上”、“超现实”、“波普”等各种流派、各种风格样式的架上绘画进行了全方位的“克隆”和应用。而且对同是从西方现当代艺术史中的“达达”、“激浪”、“videoart”等艺术中的“拷贝”而来的装置、行为、视像等非架上的观念艺术,在实验层面上都进行了较为深入的研究和探讨,并逐渐趋于成熟。
