艺术自律是现代性工程展开以来最重要的审美文化现象。“自律性是审美现代性的关键”。(1)哈贝马斯将客观实证的知识、普遍法律与道德、自律的艺术视作现代性工程的三大方案。(2)正因为艺术自律被审美现代性尊为艺术的基本存在方式,所以我们一直坚信并努力寻求一种自主性的、超历史的艺术本质。但事实上艺术作为一种社会实践活动,它是被建构的;自律性的艺术或曰艺术的自律性,也是资产阶级社会的产物。
