陕西孝歌在全国孝歌中的地位特殊,据有关资料考证,陕西应该是孝歌的源头,但是,现存的陕西孝歌却很少保留古孝歌的仪式信息,而另一方面,它的内容却凸显了孝歌宣孝的本义,这使陕西孝歌与其他地方的隐性孝歌相比成为了一种纯粹的、彰明的孝歌。
