三峡水电站设计正常蓄水位曾进行多种方案的研究比较,在1985年4月初步设计报告中,对正常蓄水位150米方案进行较深入的工作,总装机容量为1300万千瓦,保证出力332万千瓦,多年平均发电量677亿度,年利用小时数为5208小时。水轮发电机组额定出力50万千瓦,装机26台。电站分为两个厂房:左岸电站装机14台,共700万千瓦;右岸电站装机12台,共600万千瓦。
