Teaching aims:
After class, students will be able to:
1. To know four minority cultures in other countries;
2. To make a reference book to introduce one of the minority cultures in China;
3. To form appropriate attitude towards different minority cultures.
Analysis of the students:
The students are from Senior 2 of No.1 Middle School of Li County in Hunan Province. They are very active and have great imagination. They also love to make something new in the class.
Teaching keys and difficulties:
How to make a reference book on minority cultures after reading a travel brochure.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in
1. Enjoy a video -- Water-Splashing Festival
2. Ask students the following questions:
(1) What festival are they celebrating?
(2) Which minority group will do this?
Step 2 Reading
Read the travel brochure and answer the following questions:
1. Which countries do the minority groups live in?
2. What topics have been included in the description of the 4 tours?
3. What are the expressions on the topics on the Tour 4?
Step 3 Group work
Making a reference book
1. Tell the students the procedures of making a reference book;
2. Let the students make a reference book to introduce one of the minority cultures in China in groups.
Step 4 Presentation
Ask the students to present their reference books to the whole class.
Step 5 Summary
Step 6 Homework
Make a reference book on other minority cultures in groups and share it with others.
