本论文针对中国高校ESP诗歌课堂中的沉默进行了研究并报告其结果。一个班共24名本科生及该班诗歌课教师参与了这项研究。该研究以问卷调查、观察及半结构访谈的形式收集数据,对数据的分析表明:(1)学生愿意同其他人交往;然而,许多人不愿冒险在课堂上使用英语,从而选择在课堂讨论时沉默;(2)学生通常愿意并积极参与小组讨论。随着学期的深入,学生们在课堂上的沉默减少,但变化不是很大;(3)各种因素,如英语水平低,自信心不强,准备不足,担心犯错及学生的个性均导致学生在ESP诗歌课堂上的沉默。
This dissertation studies the silence of ESP poetry classrooms in Chinese universities and reports the results. A total of 24 undergraduates and a class poetry class teacher participated in the study. The study collects data in the form of questionnaires, observations and semi-structured interviews and analyzes of the data show that: (1) students are willing to interact with others; however, many are reluctant to take the risk of using English in class and thus choose to discuss in class Silence; (2) students are usually willing and actively involved in group discussions. With the deepening of the semester, students’ silence in the classroom has decreased, but the changes have not changed much. (3) Various factors such as low English level, low self-esteem, inadequate preparation, fear of mistakes and personality of students lead students Silence in ESP poetry class.
