Another new protein is found on the surface of T cells. The T cells are mainly organisms that are removed from the body, fungi, parasites, cancer cells, foreign tissues, and virus-infected cells. Through a special receptor on the cell surface, each T cell recognizes and opposes one subtype within the above population. At the Toronto conference, Michael BBrenner of Harvard University and Leonard Chess of Columbia University in New York presented their laboratory confirmation of a second T cell receptor study (Nature, July 10, 1986).
