The “second revolution” in July 1913 was the first feat of the bourgeois revolutionaries headed by Sun Yat-sen to openly resist Yuan Shikai’s feudal autocracy and defend the revolutionary achievements of 1911 by force. However, the Second Revolution failed rapidly in less than two months. Exploring the reasons for the failure of this revolution will help us learn and understand a series of major historical events in the early Republican China. The immediate motives for the outbreak of the Second or Second Revolution were the “Song Case” and the “Great Redemption”. After Yuan Shikai stole the post of provisional president of the Republic of China, he gradually exposed the face of feudal autocracy. Taking advantage of the political weakness and immaturity of the revolutionaries, he took a series of counter-revolutionary measures in succession, aiming to eradicate Al-Qaida and pave the way for dictatorship. 1913
